UPDATE:: Check out the Indiegogo campaign which is live now!

Most everyone reading this blog knows about the Umijoo Project in which Caia has been putting vast amounts of time illustrating the story with her painting prowess.

If by chance you don’t, “Umijoo” is the wondrous tale of a young girl who, with the help of a little magic, journeys underwater to learn about the dangers facing our ocean directly from the creatures that call it home. The story endeavors not just to entertain, but to educate, enlighten, and inspire! Written by ocean conservationist Casson Trenor, it is intentionally crafted to resonate with all ages.

Original Artwork for Umijoo - by Caia Koopman

We have shown some of the artwork here on this blog, as well as progress reports in the newsletter. Patreon supporters have been getting more detail, insider looks, etc., but, besides Caia and Casson, no one has been privy to the entire series. Thus, it is with great enjoyment that we can announce the first scheduled showing of originals from the series which comprises the artwork supporting the story.

The show will take place September 7th – 30th in Santa Cruz, Ca at The Art Cave located at the University Business Park at 2801 Mission St, Santa Cruz, CA, 905060. This is a fantastic opportunity to view these works all together. There will a reception to inaugurate the show Friday Sept. 7.

This date will also coincide with the Indiegogo launch created to help them self-fund the final phases of the publishing process for the book. Most of the original paintings will be sold through this Indiegogo initiative. Additionally, pre-orders for the book, which is tentatively targeted for a Christmas 2018 release, will also be sold through Indiegogo. Check back here for the Indiegogo link as we’ll be posting it once it is active.

A note to potential buyers: there will be a special “Collectors Preview” for folks who are interested in buying a painting early. If you’d like to be included in this opportunity, please contact Caia, who will put you on the list. You can also stop by the art cave website and ask to be sent the collectors preview link: www.theartcavesc.com. The preview link is expected to be active September 1st.
